Jaqueline Alvarez - East Wenatchee | Eastmont High School

Hello, my name is Jaqueline Alvarez.

Proudest Achievement: An achievement that I am most proud of is getting accepted to this incredible study abroad program. 

Long-term Goal: My number one long-term goal is to graduate from a university with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and become a pediatric nurse.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life is learning how to cope with my depression as a high school student. 

Surprising Fact: A surprising fact about myself is that I had the opportunity to work with a paramedic and ride along with him in an ambulance.

Hello, my name is Carlos Barajas-Zamora.

Proudest Achievement: I am most proud of being recognized as student of the quarter, and of course being selected as a Washington World Fellow.

Long-term Goal: My long-term goal is to become a lawyer and help people who have less than I do.

Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge in my life is keeping good grades, and a good social life, while participating in many extracurricular activities.

Surprising Fact: A surprising fact about me is that I am very shy, even though I love to put myself out there.

Luis Bravo - Seattle | Chief Sealth International High School

Hello, My name is Luis Bravo Espinoza. 

Proudest Achievement: I am proud of being chosen by my rowing coaches to go to Canada and compete against other teams.

Long-term Goal: One of my long term goals is to make it into a prestigious university. I already have my eyes set on going to MIT.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life is having to do things on my own. My parents can't really help me with school, and I don't have any older siblings, so I have to manage everything by myself.

Surprising Fact: I think a surprising fact about me is that like to play video games. I say this because I invest a lot of time in school so nobody really expects me to "have fun."

Cristina Calleros Martin - Bellingham | Bellingham High school

Hello, my name Cristina Calleros Martin.

Proudest Achievement: Planning and putting on the Baile con Ritmo (Latin mix) Dance at Bellingham High School, which was the first non-traditional dance in our district.

Long-term Goal: Going to a university and work in the area of bilingual education.

Biggest Challenge: Migrating from Mexico to the US and learning English as a second language.

Surprising Fact: I might be shy but I LOVE to dance.

Long-term Goal: My number one long term goal is to have a good education, sustainable house and plenty of dogs.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life is getting out and exploring the world.

Surprising Fact: One surprising fact about me is that when I was born no one was there but me, my mom and the doctors.

Aileen Garcia - Othello | Othello High School

Hello, my name is Aileen Garcia.

Proudest Achievement: Having this amazing opportunity to embark on an educational adventure across the world will not only open my eyes to greater possibilities in the future, but also allow me to grow as an individual.

Long-term Goal: As a result of my time in Mexico, I plan to study immigration law and create my own law firm business to help immigrants such as my father and his family. Then later I plan to pursue journalism/photography in New York.

Biggest Challenge: Not knowing who I am has always been my biggest challenge, but through this program I am excited to see the person I will become and collect memories that will shape my character. However, after experiencing life in Mexico for 3 years I was able to learn a little more about my culture and understand my heritage, such as participating in Mexican folk dances and creating an ofrenda for the day of the dead.

Hello! My name is Michelle Jimenez.

Proudest Achievement: I’m a proud Future Business Leader of America and have competed on the state level for both of my years in the club.

Long-term Goal: My long term goal is to represent the underserved a U.S. attorney.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges I face is maintaining hobbies with schoolwork, but you’ve got to make time for both!

Surprising Fact: Interestingly enough, I’m left-handed.

Hello, my name is Tayah Rose Kohler.

Proudest Achievement: I would say that the achievement in my life I am most proud of is getting accepted into my school’s National Honor Society chapter.

Long-term Goal: My number one long term goal is to never settle, to keep working hard and always learning new things.

Biggest Challenge: My biggest challenge is probably splitting my time between my parent’s houses, having to go back and forth each week.

Surprising Fact: One fact about me is that I have eight siblings!

Proudest Achievement: The achievement I’m most proud of is being elected Junior Class President for my high school.

Long-term Goal: My number one long-term goal is being the first one in my family to graduate from a university.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life is being the only man at my house.

Surprising Fact: A surprising fact about me is that I love to play my guitar.

Daniel Neary - Olympia | Capital High School

Hello, my name is Daniel Neary. 

Proudest Achievement: I am a student at Capital High School. Currently something I am very proud of is this trip to Spain! This is such an honor out of three hundred people, fifteen were selected and I was one of those fifteen! That right there is an accomplishment.

Long-term Goal: A long term goal like I said would be to be able to cut down on my language barrier coming from a mixed family where sometimes I do not know half of the words coming out of their mouths.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in not only my life but in lots of people’s lives is a language barrier. Having a language barrier makes it so that I am not able to express myself freely to everyone due to the fact that I don’t know the words.

Surprising Fact: A surprising fact about me would be that I play guitar, not very well but I can play it better than many people.

Hello, my name is Aaron Padilla-Monterrey.  

Proudest Achievement: An achievement I am most proud of is being selected for this chance to be able to go to Spain for six weeks and be able to better myself academically.  

Long-term Goal: My number one long term goal is that I want to finish high school and go to a four-year college. I hope to get into law or law enforcement.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life has been to having to move four times in the last two years, saying goodbye to friends and family each time.  

Surprising Fact: A surprising fact that people would never guess about me is that although I come off outgoing and happy, I am actually very shy and reserved most of the time.

Hello, My name is Anisa Robinson.

Proudest Achievement: The achievement that I’m most proud of is becoming the class of 2020 class president; being a leader and a voice for my peers is something that I take great pride in.

Long-term Goal: My number one long term goal is to graduate from college because I’d be the first one in my family to graduate from high school and college back to back.

Biggest Challenge: One of my biggest challenges is maintaining a positive attitude when I
don’t understand a school concept the first time, especially math.

Surprising Fact: One surprising fact about me is that I have a twin sister, but we’re fraternal so most people don’t believe we’re twins.

Hello, my name is Amber Silvers.

Proudest Achievement: The achievement in my life that I am most proud of is getting into AVID. If I did not get into the program, I would have a different academic life and goals.

Long-term Goal: My number one long-term goal is to open up an animal shelter.

Biggest Challenge: One of the biggest challenges in my life is living with hearing loss.

Surprising Fact: One surprising fact about me is that I want to learn how to build a boat one day.

Hello, my name is Emersen Slanga.

Proudest Achievement: My greatest achievement (outside of this) is finally finishing my book, The Realm of Reboska, not yet published.

Long-term Goal: My long-term goal is to join the military, go to college, and in the end become a successful dental hygienist.

Biggest Challenge: My biggest challenge in life is being heard. I have a very soft spoken voice, making it difficult for others to hear me.

Surprising Fact: One surprising fact about me is that I compete in several poetry slams.
